FAQ

GENERAL QUESTIONS

for both Water Taxi services and for Boat Cruises

Q: Do we need to make a reservation?

A: Reservations are always a good idea. However, if the boat is at the dock and available, or we have a cancellation we are happy to accommodate you and your party provided it does not interfere with an existing reservation.

Q: Do you have a special seniors/children’s rate?

A: As our rates are already discounted, we do not offer further discounts.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: We accept most forms of payment right at the boat or in advance. Accepted payment include Visa, MasterCard or by e- transfer. We also accept cash.

Q:What's the difference between a Water Taxi ride and a boat cruise?

A: A "water taxi" ride takes you directly from Point A to Point B at a fast (but not full throttle) speed. Our Water Taxi Rates are calculated on a speed of 26 knots (48 km/hour), a comfortably fast ride. A "cruise" is at a more leisurely pace - our hourly rates are based on a speed of 6 knots (11 km/hour). Our boat cruises are calculated on the time on the water, rather than on actual destination.

Q: Can I still have the opportunity of going "full throttle" for a while if my group wants that?

A: Yes we can certainly accommodate that request, but please keep in mind that the "full throttle" speed of 28 knots uses up a lot of extra fuel over our calculated rates for both water taxi rides and leisurely cruises. We do have a pricing chart per short "full-out" segments, and as long as our guests are willing to pay for that extra fuel, yes we will give them that "thrill" as long as conditions are safe.

Q: Can weather affect your Water Taxi service or boat cruises?

A: Safety is always our prime concern. The captain determines when a trip must be cancelled due to bad weather. In this event, a full refund will be given to those who have paid in advance, or they are welcome to rebook for another time.

WATER TAXI

Q: What are your Water Taxi destinations, and what are your rates?

A: Please refer to our Water Taxi Rates page, which will outline the pick-up/drop-off points, as well as the cost per boat load to each.

Q: Do we have to be picked up in downtown Kelowna, or will you pick us up at other locations?

A: Yes we can pick you up at other locations. The list of locations and rates as shown on our water taxi rates page applies to a one-way trip, in either direction.

CRUISING

Q: What are your cruising rates?

A: Please refer to our Cruise Rates page, which will outline the hourly boat cruise pricing per boat load.

Q:Where do your tours leave from?

A: We launch from the public boat launch at Cook Road, next to the Eldorado Hotel - 500 Cook Road (lots of parking). All tours begin and end at the same spot.

Q:Do you have any combination tours such as boat cruises together with winery visits?

A:As of the summer of 2021, we have added our Signature Tour options which will give you the opportunity to choose from among 4 different lengths of tours and various destinations.

BOAT OPERATION

Q: How many passengers can you carry?

A: We are licensed to carry up to nine passengers and one crew, plus coolers or bags.

Q: How much baggage can I bring?

A: One small carry-on bag or cooler per person is allowed at no charge. Additional bags are subject to space and weight limitations.

Q: Can we bring pets?

A: Pets are welcome and may ride free of charge, however they must be house trained and well behaved at all times. The captain has discretion to refuse pets based on non-compliance.

Q: Can we bring bicycles or kayaks for use at our destination?

A: Bicycles and kayaks can be carried subject to space and weight limitations.

Q: Is the crew certified?

A: As per Transport Canada regulations, the captain holds certification in all marine emergency duties and first aid.

Q: Should I worry about my safety?

A: Every trip includes Marine Transport Canada required passenger safety briefing before leaving the dock. The captain will show you the location of safety equipment along with a tutorial on how to wear a life jacket, operate flares and signaling devices.
